The Baix Emporda (Lower Emporda) coastline has numerous coves and beaches of various sizes, sand and with wonderfully clear waters. This is one of the best conserved areas of the Costa Brava, the pretty once upon a time fishing villages have been preserved and these are Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Tamariu , Aiguablava and Sa Tuna. Aiguafreda and Aigua Xelida are truly stunning with the colourful rocky coastline with pines trees reaching the sea.
Another wonderful spot to enjoy the view is from El Far in Llafranc. The lookout spot has views over the surrounding villages of Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc on one side on the other towards Tamariu. A visit to the Botanical Gardens in Cap Roig in Calella is a must with the various species of Mediterranean plants and again great views.. During the summer months there are concerts under the stars .. early booking is recommended. . Further events are the traditional Habaneras in Calella de Palafrugell always the first Saturday in July, Llafranc with the Santa Rosa Fiesta the first weekend in September and the Fiesta of the Indianos in Begur that same weekend.
