The region of the Baix Emporda has a large number of sandy beaches with clear waters and is by far the most attractive area to be found on the Costa Brava and even on the Spanish mainland. The old fishing villages of Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, tamariu along with Fornells, Aiguablava, Sa Tuna, Aiguafreda and Aigua Xelida are legendary in their outstanding beauty.
From the top of the San Sebastia lighthouse you can enjoy panoramic views out to sea, over Calella and Llafranc and tamariu with it's coastline, the Botanical Gardens in Cap Roig are well worth a visit. The gardens are the perfect with its large selection of Mediterranean plants and stunning views of the coastline it is the perfect setting for The Costa Brava Jazz Festival wich takes place here during July and August.
